Stitch Impressions

I have been interested in art related activities since student days especially modern embroidery. I was an evening student at Glasgow School of Art and was for some years a member of The Embroiderers' Guild. 

I am particularly interested in colours and textures and work with pure silk threads for the smaller pictures. In the larger pictures I use a variety of hand and machine stitches and fabrics including silk, sari strips, organza and hand dyed and textured threads, as well as watercolour and metallic paints for background and highlights.

I live in Scotland but spend three months each year in France. I also take inspiration from travels to Guernsey and the Middle East where the landscapes and seascapes provide  sources for the impressions in my pictures.

 I actively search out interesting fabrics and threads so that each picture is unique.
